BOEM Approves New England Wind Construction and Operations Plan

The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) has approved the New England Wind Construction and Operations Plan, authorizing two offshore wind energy facilities.

New England Wind 1 and New England Wind 2 will have a total capacity of up to 26-hundred megawatts of clean, renewable energy that could power more than 900-thousand homes each year.

The projects will be located around 20-nautical-miles south of Martha's Vineyard and about 24-nautical-miles southwest of Nantucket.

The BOEM considered feedback from Tribes, government agencies, ocean users, and others to avoid, minimize, or mitigate potential impacts on marine life and other ocean uses, like fishing.
