Massachusetts Senator Ed Markey says there has been great progress made in dealing with the Sagamore and Bourne Bridge replacement projects.
The Senator, along with Congressman Bill Keating met Friday with transportation officials.
"The project is exciting and the community is on board," Markey said after his meeting with local officials.
According to transportation officials, the plan is to pre-build the bridge off site, then ship it in and assemble it. It is a procedure that many new projects are employing in order to save time and money.
The Senator says half the 2 billion dollars is in place, and the rest of the money is expected from the federal government within the next several weeks.
