The Barnstable County Sheriff’s Department is confirming that an investigation is underway into an alleged assault on a person in department custody.
Sheriff Donna Buckley says the alleged assault was at the hands of an employee.
The Cape and Islands District Attorney is investigating.
They are not commenting yet.
Sheriff Buckley does say one employee has been placed on administrative leave.
