Plans for the development of a former golf course in Hyannis have changed, with the surprise purchase of the 40-acre property.
The former Twin Brooks site is now in the hands of Riverview School, thanks in part to a private donation.
The Sandwich-based Riverview is a boarding and day school that serves students with learning challenges, and officials wish to add programs to assist students over age 21.
Twin Brooks was initially set to become an apartment complex but became the subject of court battles, and the previous agreement to purchase the land by developer Quarterra had expired.
