Officials in Edgartown have requested nearly five million dollars in funding to replace the town's aging sewage main.
The mile-long cast iron pipe, which was laid in 1971, has broken twice in the past two years, with the latest break about two weeks ago.
The aim is to replace the main with a stronger, more modern system.
The wastewater department is also seeking an additional three-million-dollars to begin preliminary design work on the community's 20-year plan.
