A legal dispute that pits the town of Falmouth against the union representing firefighters could be close to a resolution.
Falmouth Firefighters Local 1397 had filed an injunction in January against an emergency order, which called for members to fill in as dispatchers during a time of short staffing.
Records show the lack of staff was a problem dating back to last fall, and the town had previously issued an order for police officers to fill shifts.
The union filed a grievance with Falmouth officials, but that was withdrawn several days later.
There has been no further comment by the town, nor union representatives.
