Legendary Coach Leaves New England But Not NFL

The New England Patriots start today without a head coach for the first time in nearly a quarter century.

After 24 seasons and six Super Bowl victories, Bill Belichick and the Patriots announced a mutual separation yesterday.

The Patriots will now begin the search for a new head coach, and Belichick gave no indication that he's planning to retire.

Belichick and Pats owner Robert Kraft appeared together yesterday to make the announcement, and Belichick says he will always be a Patriot.

He also said he will be coaching in the NFL next season but he did not say where.
