The 50th anniversary of the film "Jaws" falls in 2025, and a descendant of Universal Pictures co-founder Robert Cochrane has asked the western Vineyard community of Aquinnah to host a special, 10-day commemorative event.
The vision was detailed in a letter from Mike Cochrane before the Select Board this week. It would run in June at the Len Butler Memorial Park by Gay Head Light and at the Vanderhoop Homestead.
Guests would include actor Richard Dreyfuss, who appeared in the film, score composer and conductor John Williams, and the Boston Pops Orchestra.
Officials have expressed interest, but feel Cochrane should appear before them and provide more specifics before commitment is reached.
