Respiratory viruses including COVID, flu and RSV are surging in Massachusetts.
State Department of Public Health said almost 17 percent of emergency room visits in mid-December were due to acute respiratory illness.
Flu activity is considered "high" statewide and rated as "very high" on the North and South shores, Cape Cod and the Islands.
COVID-related ER visits were in the "moderate" category.
