Provincetown police officers will deploy body-worn cameras, beginning December 1st.
The new policy brings the department in line with police reforms enacted under state law in 2020. In a statement, officers will be given 90 days to acclimate themselves to the new technology, and will not be disciplined for any policy violations during that time.
Select Board member Erik Borg called the initiative a positive one, which provides accountability and is a step toward community policing.
