A town meeting in Scituate this week did not have enough support for a financial request related to the ongoing effort to rebuild its seawall network.
The Patriot Ledger reports the citizens group "Friends of Lighthouse Point Seawall" wanted seven-million dollars to fast-track reconstruction for the wall on Lighthouse Road.
Deteriorating portions of the Scituate seawall have been repaired in a piecemeal fashion, and the select board is considering cutting ties with the Army Corps of Engineers after they entered a partnership five years ago.
