Port Authority Prices Could Be On The Rise

The Steamship Authority is looking to raise prices.

Officials unveiled their proposal at the Port Council meeting, saying they want to up the fees for parking permits and coupon books and raise the fares for vehicles belonging to non-residents.

The combined rate adjustments are expected to generate an extra three-million-bucks a year, something the Authority needs as it stares down costly maintenance and repairs to its fleet.

The Authority's board will have the final say on the proposed rate hikes.
