A coyote killed a leashed dog on the North Shore on Memorial Day weekend.
The owner was walking his pet in Nahant on Saturday when the "extremely aggressive" coyote attacked.
Residents have said they have felt unsafe from coyotes for the last year.
The town is considering hiring sharpshooters to kill the animals if they become a danger to the community.
That has drawn the ire of animal groups which say that the animals are entitled to live without the threat of being hunted down.
