Sandwich OK To Reject Low Bidder For Boardwalk Project

The Massachusetts Attorney General's Office has found that the town of Sandwich was within its rights to bypass the lowest bidder for its boardwalk replacement project.

Back in March, the Sandwich Select Board chose ACK Marine and General Contracting from Quincy to replace the popular, but storm-ravaged, boardwalk leading people to Town Neck Beach.

Cape Cod Builders Inc. in Bourne objected, but town manager George Dunham told the board ACK Marine had more qualifications for the job.
