Housing Report Shows Fewer State Sales- Higher Prices

A new housing report from The Warren Group is out and it shows sales down statewide by nearly 23 percent and the median price of a home up 2 percent to 510 thousand dollars.

Locally, Barnstable sales were down 66 percent- but the median price went up by 13 percent to 880 thousand dollars.

Bourne sales were down 45 percent. Eastham sales were up 11 percent. Falmouth down 26 percent.

Hyannis was down about ten percent overall. Sandwich was even.

Homes there increased by by about 13 percent to more than 634 thousand dollars.

The experts tell us prices are increasing because of a lack of inventory, while fewer people are buying homes because of rising interest rates.
