A first-of-its-kind blood drive for dogs was held Wednesday in honor of Yarmouth police officer Sean Gannon.
Yesterday was the fifth anniversary of Gannon's murder.
The event was organized by state Representative and former Yarmouth deputy chief Steve Xiarhos.
Veterinary Specialists were on-hand to educate the community about their blood bank.
The shooting that killed Gannon also injured his K-9 partner Nero, which led the state to pass a new law that allows K-9s to receive emergency treatment from first responders.
