Steamship Authority Vessel Taken Offline After Incident

A Steamship Authority ferry had to be taken out of service after an incident on Sunday morning.

The Vineyard Gazette reports a truck hit the stern door of the Martha’s Vineyard while it was loading its 6 a.m. trip from Vineyard Haven.

The SSA's schedule was impacted by cancellations before a backup vessel was pressed into service.

The Vineyard was taken to the Fairhaven maintenance facility.

Steamship Authority officials did not have immediate details on the extent of the damage.
