Falmouth Police Chief Edward Dunne is seeking to end his department's status as a Massachusetts Civil Service police department, according to a report from The Enterprise.
Dunne says removing Falmouth from the requirement could allow the police department to hire officers more effectively.
The move would require town meeting approval, and then it would have to be OK'd by the state legislature.
