A rally in opposition to the planned gun range at Joint Base Cape Cod is taking place Saturday morning.
Participants will be able to sign petitions outlining concerns about the range that will then be forwarded to the director of the Massachusetts Environmental Protection Agency. The range cannot get ultimate approval unless that agency signs off on the plan.
The rally begins at 10 at the Forestdale Elementary School in Sandwich.
The Massachusetts National Guard says that the range will create no adverse effects on the environment and eliminate the need for soldiers to travel long distances for necessary training.
