Man Accused In Falmouth Kidnapping Arraigned In Court

A man accused of an armed kidnapping in Falmouth last weekend has been arraigned in court.

The Enterprise reports Elangwa Shaidi was ordered by a district court judge to have a mental evaluation within a month as part of the condition of his release.

A pretrial hearing is set for July.

According to police reports, Shaidi accosted two men who were in a field near the Quahog Republic Bar, then when they tried to leave, he got into their car and ordered them to drive around, saying he had a knife.

Shaidi was reportedly driven around the upper Cape by his unwilling chauffeurs during an incident that lasted two hours.

Police say no weapons were found on Shaidi when he was arrested at a homeless camp.
