New Senior Citizen Center Fails Approval At Chatham Town Meeting

Town meeting in Chatham fell short of approving a new senior citizen center this weekend.

The article to spend about 8-million dollars to build the facility on donated land on Main Street received more votes "for" than "against", but did not reach the required two-thirds majority.

Town officials were on-board with the new senior center location, but a group of opponents pushed an alternate site on school property on Stepping Stones Road.
