The Atlantic hurricane season is officially here and state officials are urging residents to be prepared in case a hurricane strikes.
MEMA Public Information Officer Chris Besse says everyone should prepare things like an emergency plan and emergency kit, but says coastal residents should also find out if they live in a hurricane evacuation zone.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration predicts another active hurricane season.
