NOAA fisheries says "moderate to high densities of right whales" were detected in Massachusetts coastal waters from April 6th to the 20th.
That includes Cape Cod bay, Massachusetts Bay, Stellwagen Bank, state waters on the backside of the Cape and the federal waters south of the islands.
NOAA says the expiration date for a seasonal small vessel speed limit of ten knots in Cape Cod Bay, currently April 30th, could be changed depending on whale activity.
