Beach home owners in Sandwich are asking for permission to place a new synthetic barrier between their houses and Cape Cod Bay.
The Enterprise reports the owners who made the request at a conservation commission meeting last week are on the western end of Town Neck Beach.
The homeowners said coastal storms this past winter destroyed their previous barrier system.
The storms also destroyed several homes at another Sandwich beach.
Town officials at the same time are waiting to see if the Army Corps of Engineers will conduct a renourishment project at Town Neck.
