Governor Baker Signs Law Extending Insurance Requirements For Covid-19

A new law signed by Governor Charlie Baker extends requirements for insurance carriers in the state to cover COVID-19 testing and treatment.

Cape Cod state Representative Sarah Peake included a provision in the bill, which requires insurance to cover asymptomatic testing.

Baker's office says that will happen under specific circumstances outlined by the Executive Office of Health and Human Services.

The new law signed by Baker also increases insurance coverage for telehealth services, expands the scope of practice for nurse practitioners, other specialized nurses, and optometrists, and takes steps to protect against surprise medical bills.
