Governor Baker has signed a 16.5-billion dollar temporary budget that will keep the state going until the end of October.
The Governor did reject a legislative plan to impose minimum spending requirements. He said that would unduly limit his authority to manage the state.
Lawmakers under the spending package would not have to return to Beacon Hill until the fall.
The Legislature has not offered a budget but there is an agreement to level fund state aid to cities and towns throughout the state.
