Shark Deterring Technology Will Only Work If Entire Cape Commits

Willy Planinshek says the problem is that all of Barnstable County would have to do it because the seals and the sharks would just move to where the sonar isn’t. 

However, some say it is expensive and the sharks and the seals will adapt. Barnstable County Commissioners will get an update in September.

Two Cape Cod residents say it would be safe and effective. Building a sonar barrier off the coast to ward off the seals-which is the food supply for the sharks, and that would deter shark attacks.
