SSA Car Ferry Has "Fender Bender" Sunday Night

SSA Car Ferry/Fender Bender

3/13/19

High winds on Nantucket Sound Sunday night literally knocked a steamship authority ferry out of service.

The Inquirer and Mirror reports that the M/V Eagle, an SSA car ferry, was approaching the South slip at the Nantucket Terminal, with winds gusting to 50 miles per hour, when it had a hard impact with the outer most fender just before 5 P.M.

After the impact the crew was able to maneuver the vessel into the slip.

SSA officials said the ferry sustained damage to its rub rail and was taken out of service for repairs.

The boat was back on schedule Monday afternoon.
