The League of American Bicyclists, Thursday, has recognized the Town of Nantucket with a silver Bicycle Friendly Community award.
Nantucket is one of 61 new or repeat communities so designated as a BFC, bringing the total number of said communities to 464 in all fifty states and the District of Columbia.
The Executive Director of the League of American Bicyclists, Bill Nesper, says the organization applauds those communities for making bicycling a safe and convenient option for transportation and recreation.
There are five levels of the BFC award: diamond, platinum, gold, silver, and bronze.
