Housing Assistance Corporaton News Release:
First-time homebuyers seeking to become homeowners on Cape Cod are invited to an info session on Tuesday, December 4 at 6 pm at Falmouth Public Library for a new 3-bedroom, 2-bath single-family home Falmouth Housing Trust is building in East Falmouth.
Housing Assistance Corporation (HAC) and Falmouth Housing Trust staff will provide details on the application, eligibility requirements for purchasing the home, and the lottery process.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for someone to establish their roots in a great neighborhood,” said Falmouth Housing Trust Executive Director Karen Bissonnette. “With the high price of homes, this project will keep a member of our region’s workforce here in Falmouth which is vital to maintaining a vibrant community.”
Located at 72 Deer Pond Road, the 1,400-square-foot home is currently being constructed. It is priced at $195,000 and comes with an affordable housing deed restriction. The land was donated to the Falmouth Housing Trust, paving the way for the housing project.
Eligible applicants must be first-time homebuyers, with certain exceptions; earn no more than 80 percent of the Area Median Income (AMI) for Barnstable County; and have no more than $75,000 in household assets.
Gael Kelleher, HAC Director of Real Estate, said next week’s info session represents a chance for interested applicants to learn more about the single-family home and the steps they need to take to submit an application.
HAC will oversee the lottery application process. Applications are currently available online at www.capecommunityrealestate.org andwww.falmouthousingtrust.org as well as at HAC’s office at 460 West Main Street in Hyannis; Falmouth Housing Trust’s office at 200 Main Street, Suite 212; Falmouth Town Hall; and the Falmouth Public Library.
