Annual Shop With a Cop Just Around the Corner

A number of police departments across Cape Cod are getting ready for the annual “Shop with a Cop” event that gives deserving teenagers in need the opportunity to go on a holiday shopping spree.

Yarmouth Deputy Police Chief, Steven Xiarhos, says the event begins at noon on Wednesday, December 12. Officers will accompany the students, selected by their school counselors, to lunch at Sam Diego’s in Hyannis and then to Kohl’s to go holiday shopping.

"It builds that bridge between the children and the future of America and the police that are out there serving and protecting them," says Xiarhos.

Xiarhos says funding for the program is made entirely possible from private donations and if you would like to donate to the “Shop with a Cop” program you can send in or drop off your donation made out to the Yarmouth Police Relief Association ‘Shop with a Cop’ program at Yarmouth Police Headquarters at any time.

The goal is to give each student $150 with which to shop.
