Family Members of Alleged Cop Shooter in Court

Two family members of the man accused of shooting two Falmouth Police officers were in court Wednesday for a pre-trial conference.

Malik Koval, 21, remains jailed charged with shooting officers Donald DeMiranda and Ryan Moore. Both officers survived the shooting and are expected to make full recoveries.

Kimberly Koval, the suspect’s mother and Marcus Maseda, another son, are charged with assaulting a police officer, interference with police, and intimidating a witness.

The officers, on July 27, were responding to reports of an altercation at a home on Ashley Drive. They were allegedly hindered from investigating the incident by Kimberly Koval and Marcus Maseda. It was during that confrontation that Malik Koval allegedly grabbed a gun and shot both officers.

Kimberly Koval returns to court November 6 for another pre-trial hearing. Maseda returns to court September 28.
