Honors are being bestowed upon the Assistant Harbormaster of Yarmouth.
Tucker “Jack” Tierney has been honored for saving the life of a drowning victim.
It happened on August 10. A call came over the radio around 12:30 p.m. that there was a potential drowning victim somewhere in Lewis Bay.
Tierney responded and saw people pointing to a breakwater where the young man was clinging to the rocks. Tierney was able to convince the individual to climb into his boat and he was outfitted with a life vest and taken to a nearby dock where fire/rescue personnel provided first aid before taking him to Cape Cod Hospital for further treatment.
Tierney has been in his present roll as Yarmouth’s Assistant Harbormaster for less than a year.
