Falmouth Man Charged in Robbery of Town Taxi Cabbie

A Falmouth man is facing numerous charges in connection with the robbery of a Town Taxi cab driver.

A 9-1-1 call was placed to the Yarmouth PD just before 1 a.m. from the cab driver who told officers the robbery took place on Pleasant Street in South Yarmouth and that the suspect was a black male in his 20’s wearing a black tank top and cargo shorts. He fled with nearly $400.

The investigation led officers to room 136 of the Ambassador Inn in South Yarmouth where they found 26-year old Steven Harris. A computer check found he had three active arrest warrants and a check of the room located a pair of cargo pants and a black tank top and $316 in cash under the mattress Harris had been laying on.

Harris was arrested and brought to YPD Headquarters where he was booked and charged with numerous crimes including Armed Robbery and Assault and Battery while Armed with a Dangerous Weapon. Bail was set at $5,040 and he was held over night until his arraignment this morning in Barnstable District Court.
