Gasoline prices in Massachusetts are down three cents this week, according to AAA Northeast.
In its weekly survey of prices in Massachusetts, AAA finds self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $2.80 per gallon. The Massachusetts price is four cents lower than the national average for regular unleaded of $2.84. A year ago at this time, the average price in Massachusetts was 59 cents lower at $2.21.
“The national average for regular unleaded gasoline dropped three cents this week, and Massachusetts’ 3 cent drop reflects that downward trend,” said Mary Maguire, Director of Public and Legislative Affairs. “Crude oil prices are under $70 a barrel, and domestic oil production is at an all-time high—acting as buffer to price increases at the pump for motorists.”
The range in prices in the latest AAA survey for unleaded regular is 48 cents, from a low of $2.61 to a high of $3.09. AAA advises motorists to shop around for the best prices in their area, and to make sure they and their passengers buckle up — every time.
