The Securities and Exchange Commission says an Orleans woman, claiming to be an investment advisor, has been accused of stealing more than $3 million from her clients over a six year period.
Cape Cod Today reports 51-year old Kimberly Pine Kitts faces additional charges of creating false tax documents in an effort to cover the thefts.
Kitts claimed to be a CPA with a Ph.D. in Economics. The SEC says neither claim is true.
The SEC says Kitts did business as Marquis Consulting LLC and that over a six-year period she made 82 unauthorized withdrawals from seven clients, stealing more than three million dollars.
The SEC’s findings have been turned over to authorities because the SEC does not have criminal enforcement powers.
