Sandwich Boardwalk Re-Opens Ahead of Schedule

The iconic boardwalk in Sandwich was re-opened Thursday after undergoing extensive repairs from a series of damaging nor’easters in March.

The landmark was damaged to the point where it was deemed unsafe by Sandwich Building Inspector, Paul Spiro, and closed to the public.

Sandwich officials spent $76,000 on a contractor for immediate temporary repairs to allow the boardwalk to open for the summer.

Sandwich residents voted to spend $2 million to re-build the boardwalk entirely. That re-build is expected to take anywhere from one to two years.
