Sgt Sean Gannon Laid to Rest

Yarmouth Police Sgt Sean Gannon was laid to rest Wednesday following a funeral mass at St. Pius X Catholic Church in South Yarmouth.

Gannon, 32, was killed April 12 in the line of duty while serving an arrest warrant in Marstons Mills. His K9 partner, Nero, was shot in the head and neck but appears to be making a remarkable recovery following surgery last week.

Thousands of law enforcement officers from around the country arrived on Cape Cod in a show of support and unity for Gannon, his family, and the Yarmouth Police Department. His funeral mass was also attended by local, state, and federal lawmakers, including Governor Charlie Baker.

Following the funeral mass Gannon was taken to Chandler Gray Cemetery, the procession passing by Yarmouth  Police Headquarters on Higgins Crowell Road which was lined with K9 officers and their dogs.

The Yarmouth PD, Wednesday, promoted Gannon to Sgt posthumously. He leaves behind a wife, Dara.
