Coast Guard Aids SSA Ferry After Power Loss

The U.S. Coast Guard came to the aid of the M/V Martha’s Vineyard ferry Saturday night after the vessel lost power while on route from Woods Hole to Martha’s Vineyard.

The captain of the Martha's Vineyard reported the incident to Coast Guard watchstanders at 9 p.m.

The Coast Guard Cutter Hammerhead and a response boat crew from Coast Guard Station Woods Hole responded to the scene while a commercial tow was arranged.

The M/V Martha's Vineyard is currently anchored outside Vineyard Haven between the East and West Chop.

78 people were on board the ferry when it lost power. There were no reported injuries and the cause of the power loss is being investigated.
