The Town of Dennis will be moving forward on plans for the Dennis Home for Veterans after a judge’s ruling on the matter.
Judge Howard Speicher ruled in favor of the Town on an appeal to the Land Court, saying the Town had successfully demonstrated that the abutters claims of harm were either unsubstantiated or not protected issues under the Dennis Zoning By-law.
The Town made the parcel of land at 1341 Route 134 available for the Dennis Home for Veterains in the fall of 2016. The five-bedroom home will provide an opportunity to help five veterans escape the streets.
The Cape and Islands Veterans Outreach Center was selected by the Town to own and operate the home with the Town maintaining ownership of the site.
