Mashpee Police report a woman was accosted and sexually assaulted Wednesday night.
Police say around 5:30 a woman in her early 30s was walking in the area of Commercial Street near the Community Health Center of Cape Cod when she was approached by the suspect who grabbed her wrist and dragged her into the woods.
The woman, who was sexually assaulted, was able to fight off her attacker who ran off into the woods.
Mashpee Police officers, with assistance from a Barnstable County Sheriff’s Department K-9 were unable to locate the individual. He is described as a tall black male in his 40s wearing a dark coat.
