Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School football coach Paul Funk has been selected the New England Patriots high school Coach of the Year.
Funk guided the Dolphins to a 13-0 season, capped off with a 37-7 rout of West Springfield in the MIAA Division-5 State Championship. The victory highlighted a season in which the Dolphins won by an average margin of 31 points per game, including wins over six playoff teams.
It was the second time that Funk had led the Dolphins to an unbeaten season and State Championship, the first coming in 2011.
As the New England Patriot High School Coach of the Year, Coach Funk has also been nominated for the NFL Don Shula High School Coach of the Year Award. He will join 31 other nominees from around the country in Orlando for the USA Football National Conference and Pro Bowl week in January.
