Nantucket Memorial Airport closed this morning just before 7:30 after a private twin engine plane that had taken off returned for a landing and the landing gear collapsed.
Nantucket Police Lt Angus MacVicar tells WXTK News the call to first responders came from the control tower.
When the emergency responders arrived on scene the pilot, who was the only person on the plane, was standing outside of the aircraft. He was taken to Nantucket Cottage Hospital for examination.
No injuries were reported.
