A Clinton man was taken by MedFlight helicopter to a Boston hospital after crashing his car Wednesday night in Osterville.
Barnstable Police Sgt Sean Sweeney tells WXTK News that Jeffrey Brookhart, 27, drove his 2011 Chevrolet Cruz off the road and over a guardrail and down an embankment on Main Street near Swift Avenue just before midnight. Brookhart, who was shirtless and bloody, flagged down a passing motorist for a ride but almost immediately told her to stop and jumped out. She, in turn alerted Barnstable Police who responded with a K9 unit. They found Brookhart about a half-mile from the crash. When officers found Brookhart’s car it was flipped over and the engine had been knocked out of the car and was about five feet away and on fire.
Police have charged Brookhart with operating to endanger, leaving the scene of an accident and marked lanes violation.
