A three-vehicle crash Sunday afternoon on Route 28 just south of the Bourne Bridge killed one person and injured five others.
Massachusetts State Police report the accident happened shortly after 4 p.m. on Route 28 northbound. A Freightliner hit a Honda CR-V and an Acura MDX was involved in the crash as well.
A 61-year old woman who was in the Honda was transported to Tobey Hospital in Wareham where she was pronounced dead from her injuries. Another occupant in the Honda, a 15-year old girl, was taken by MedFlight helicopter to a trauma center in Rhode Island.
Additionally, three women in the Honda and one from the Acura suffered injuries that ranged from minor to moderate. All were taken to Falmouth Hospital. The male driver of the Freightliner was uninjured.
The identity of the woman killed in the crash is being withheld pending notification of family.
