A South Yarmouth man is facing breaking and entering charges after his arrest Friday night.
Yarmouth Police responded to a report of a burglar alarm going off on Bass River Terrace in South Yarmouth and what they found upon arriving at the scene were a number of items strewn on the lawn and side yard of the home.
They also discovered Everett Gouveia, 43, of South Yarmouth hiding in nearby woods.
Police conducted a search of the area and discovered a second home and shed on South Street had been broken into as well.
A search of Gouveia found items taken from the home that were confirmed by a caretaker who arrived on the scene. Some of the items on his person were a prescription medication with a woman’s name on the bottle, assorted jewelry, and a shoulder bag with the owner’s name embroidered on it.
Gouveia was charged with two counts of Breaking and Entering in the Daytime, Felony, two counts of malicious destruction of property over $250, larceny from a building, and larceny of drugs.
Gouveia was arraigned Monday in Barnstable District court.
