A Hyannis man is under arrest and facing charges after allegedly assaulting a woman and hitting her with a samurai sword.
Michael Curtis, 45, pleaded not guilty, Wednesday, to Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon and Assault and Battery in Barnstable District Court.
According to Barnstable Police, Curtis allegedly punched a woman in the face for leaving dirty dishes in the sink and not keeping a Main Street apartment clean.
Curtis then began swinging the sword at the ceiling before he struck the woman in the shoulder. Police say that both Curtis and the victim were intoxicated.
Curtis is being held on $500 bail with a pre-trial hearing slated for February 24th.
