Joyce Lawton Peacock "Look Back, Don't Stare" Book Launch at OVL

Osterville Village Library

Memorial Weekend 1957, James Peacock stumbled upon the sleepy town of Osterville and never left. Sixty-seven years later, his daughter Joyce has published a memoir of his life. Joyce recounts the story of her father’s life filled with life lessons of hardship, optimism and the power of humor. Some of the stories of his childhood are outrageously funny, while others pull on your heartstrings. But all are what shaped him into the type of person people knew him to be. He spent his later years here in Osterville where he married a local woman and raised his family. He was a local businessman, a good friend to many, and a true family man. Reading the memories of James’ life as well as the ones told by his daughter, Joyce, every reader is bound to be touched by one or more of the stories in this book. Join us as we celebrate Joyce's first book, remember James, and hear a little about the journey in creating this memoir.
