An early fall nor'easter could impact Barnstable County from Friday through Sunday.
Cape Cod leaders say residents and boaters should prepare for strong winds, heavy rain, dangerous seas and coastal impacts as the storm moves north.
Depending on the storm track, there could be two to six-inches of rain in some areas, leading to roadway and coastal flooding.
Gale warnings and storm watches are already in effect for waters surrounding Cape Cod, with forecasts saying wind gusts could reach 50-miles-per-hour.
Meantime, The Steamship Authority says it's continuing to monitor the forecast for the incoming nor'easter that's expected to impact the Cape and Islands.
Officials say there were Wednesday cancellations on the Hyannis-Nantucket run, and more are likely as the storm ramps up through Sunday.
The SSA has expanded the waiver of change and cancellation fees for travel scheduled through Sunday.
