Commissioners Elevate Water Supply, Carrying Capacity As Regional Priority

Barnstable County Commissioners have elevated Cape Cod's water supply and carrying capacity as a regional priority.

It comes after last month's meeting in Harwich and a detailed discussion with Falmouth officials Wednesday regarding increasing pressure on the town's drinking water supply from drought, heavy summer demand and continued growth.

Commissioners have agreed to make carrying capacity a recurring topic at their upcoming meetings across Cape Cod.

Commissioners will be asking all 15 towns for input as the county examines the relationship between population growth, development, infrastructure and the Cape's finite natural resources.
